New-Build Electrical Installation in Bowlee, Heywood
Renegade custom-designed, installed and commissioned the complete electrical installation for this new-build home in Bowlee, Heywood. It was a start-to-finish electrical project rather than one isolated circuit, covering the decisions that have to be made while a house is still being built and the finished testing and commissioning before handover.
Whole-house electrical design
On a new build, socket positions, switches, lighting circuits, controls and cable routes need deciding before plasterboard and finished surfaces make every change harder. Renegade handled that electrical design and installation across the property, including kitchen lighting, recessed ceiling lights and external wall lighting around the brick elevations.
This is the kind of work Ashley's wider electrical background supports. He has over fifteen years' experience as an electrician, including more than ten years on commercial projects, and established Renegade Electrical in 2018 before expanding into solar panel installation, battery storage and EV charger installation.
Integrated smart-home controls
The completed home includes a wall-mounted smart management interface. The screen groups controls for lights, plugs, switches, cameras and thermostats by room, including the bedroom, hallway, lounge and utility room. Bringing those controls together was part of the electrical design rather than something added after the rooms were finished.
Planning the controls early meant the screen position, supplies and cable routes could be worked into the build alongside the lighting, sockets and switches.
Planned for future low-carbon work
The home had no gas supply and used an air-source heat pump, with solar panels planned for a later phase. Renegade's work at this stage covered the complete electrical installation and smart controls, with the future solar installation considered while the routes and consumer unit were still accessible.
That future planning is still relevant. Bringing an electrician in early allows the consumer unit, cable routes and controls to be considered alongside later solar and battery work during a renovation or self-build. It also makes it easier to plan an EV charger installation before finished walls and landscaping restrict the route.
Who carried out the work
Customers deal directly with Ashley, who remains involved in survey, design, electrical installation, commissioning and aftercare. Installation work is handled by the in-house Renegade team; only specialist scaffolding is subcontracted where a project requires it.
For the customer, having the electrical installation designed as one job meant the lighting, sockets, controls and future low-carbon equipment could be planned together before the house was finished. It also left one direct contact for the design, installation, commissioning and later questions.
