What AlphaESS makes

AlphaESS is a global energy storage provider with installations in 140+ countries. Their residential range includes:

• SMILE M5 - 5kW single-phase residential battery, capacities from 5kWh to 20kWh
• SMILE G3 - single-phase from 3.8kWh up to 37.2kWh

How an AlphaESS battery saves you money

Off-peak electricity prices can be as little as one third the price of peak rates. Your battery automatically charges during cheap periods (typically overnight) and powers your home when electricity is expensive. This works well with smart tariffs like Octopus Go and delivers significant savings even during winter when solar panels are less effective.

If you've also got solar, the battery stores excess generation during the day and powers your home through the evening - so you're using your own electricity rather than buying it back at peak rates.

Smart features

AlphaESS systems integrate well with:

• Home automation - schedule charging during the cheapest electricity periods, leave capacity for solar panel top-ups, monitor energy usage and savings in real time
• EV chargers - including AlphaESS's own SMILE EVCT11 charger, so home and car can share stored energy

AlphaESS or Solax - how to choose?

Both are good. The choice tends to come down to:

• Existing kit - if you already have other AlphaESS components (or Solax), staying within one ecosystem means everything talks to each other through one app
• Specific capacity needs - the AlphaESS three-phase range goes very large; the single-phase G3 is flexible at smaller sizes
• Availability and pricing at the time of your install

Installation process

A qualified electrician (Ashley) assesses your property's electrical system and discusses your energy usage patterns to recommend the right battery size - you won't be visited by a salesperson. This matters because we've seen other installers recommend batteries in unsuitable locations like lofts, which contradicts NAPIT safety guidelines.

Batteries can be installed in various locations - we've fitted systems next to driveways, in garages, and other suitable spaces with minimal disruption. All installations are tested and commissioned to the highest safety standards with full electrical certification provided.
