Why we fit GivEnergy

GivEnergy is a UK-based home energy company making batteries, inverters, EV chargers and gateway hardware. We have experience with GivEnergy systems and regularly fit their EV chargers as part of integrated solar, battery and EV setups.

The advantage of a single-ecosystem approach is that everything talks to each other - inverter, battery, charger, app - so smart charging matches solar generation and time-of-use tariffs without constantly being fiddled with.

What GivEnergy makes

The GivEnergy range covers:

(GivEnergy's published product range is the source for the above - we'll confirm specific model details and warranty terms on your written quote.)

A real GivEnergy install we did

A customer with solar and battery already in place came to us for a GivEnergy charger:

"Ashley was friendly, knowledgeable and did a great job. He ensured that our new GivEnergy charger was properly integrated with the solar and battery system. During the job he found an earthing fault from previous work - and fixed this small job at no extra cost."

That's the kind of work we do regularly - making sure the new GivEnergy hardware is properly tied into whatever's already on the property, and putting right anything previous installers got wrong.

Solar-diverting EV charging

The GivEnergy 7kW charger supports solar-diverting charging - if your panels are generating more than the house is using, the surplus charges your car instead of being exported. Combined with Octopus Intelligent Go, you can configure smart charging to match solar generation and time-of-use tariffs, so most of your charging happens at the cheapest times.

For drivers commuting or doing daily mileage, the savings versus public charging are substantial - home charging is typically 50-90% cheaper than using public charging points (rac.co.uk). With a smart tariff like Octopus Go, you can charge overnight at rates well below standard electricity prices.

Whole-home backup with All in One + Giv-Gateway

For customers who want resilience against power cuts, the GivEnergy All in One (bidirectional inverter + 13.5kWh battery) paired with the Giv-Gateway can provide whole-home backup when the grid goes down. That's a different conversation from "save money on bills" - it's about keeping the lights on during a power cut. We can talk through whether that setup makes sense for your property during the survey.

GivEnergy with existing solar

We regularly add GivEnergy batteries or chargers to existing solar installations - even where the existing solar is from a different brand. The hybrid and AC-coupled inverter options give us flexibility to integrate without ripping out what's already there. We'll check compatibility during the survey.

Installation process

A qualified electrician (Ashley) assesses your property and discusses your existing setup, your usage and what you want the system to do - not a salesperson. We then put together a quote that's specific to your property, install in a day or two depending on scope, and provide full electrical certification.
