Royton — a growing area
Royton property prices have grown over 40% in the last five years. Homeowners here are putting money into their homes, and solar is one of the best returns you'll get — it adds around 4% to your property value while cutting your energy bills from day one.
The housing stock is mostly terraces and semis around Royton centre and along Rochdale Road, with newer family homes on the fringes towards Shaw. The terraces typically suit 3-4kW systems; the semis and larger homes can take 4-6kW.
East-west roofs are fine
Many of Royton's terraces have roofs running parallel to the street. Some installers will tell you south-facing is the only option worth having — we disagree. Panels on both east and west slopes generate more total energy than south-only, and the spread of generation across morning and evening actually matches when you're using electricity. We design systems around your actual roof, not a textbook ideal.
Batteries — honest advice
For a typical Royton terrace using 2,500-3,000 kWh a year, a battery on a standard tariff has a long payback. Our advice: maximise your panels first. If you're on a time-of-use tariff like Octopus Go, the battery maths change — payback drops to 7-10 years and the savings are real. Old fuse boxes
A lot of Royton's older properties still have fuse boxes that don't meet current standards. If yours needs upgrading, we include it in the quote — it's not a nasty surprise that appears after the survey.

Solar installation
We were looking for an off grid solar installation for our allotment. Renegade gave us a very good quote for the job and so we chose them. This turned out to be a great decision. Ashley did a site inspection and we tweaked the initial design to better suit our location. The installation went ahead on the planned date and the work was completed to a very high standard. We had some additional work carried out at the same time, some due to Ashleys recommendation (e.g. swapping our lighting for LED). I highly recommend Renegade as a trustworthy and competent company.

Renegade Electricals - Exceptional service!
In a word...outstanding! Renegade Electricals installed a 10 panel PV system with battery/inverter for us and we're extremely happy with it. Ashley was easy to deal with, reassuring and very professional providing full documentation and keeping us informed throughout the process. His customer service was exceptional and technical knowledge formidable. The panels, even in winter in the grim/grey north west, are producing impressive stats and its great entertainment watching the Alpha-ESS app showing the panels filling the battery up during the day, then discharging in the evening.
