Two-car households — double the savings
Saddleworth's rural location means most households run at least one car, often two. That's potentially £1,350 a year in petrol for two commuters. Switch to EVs with home charging on Octopus Go (7.5p/kWh overnight) and you're looking at around £200 for both cars. That's over a thousand pounds saved annually — and it only gets better with solar panels.
A larger solar system on a Saddleworth detached home generates enough surplus in summer to charge both cars for free. In winter, overnight rates still keep you well under what petrol costs. The maths works especially well here because the bigger homes justify bigger solar systems with more surplus to divert to cars.
Driveways and garages

We mount the charger wherever makes sense for your parking arrangement — garage wall, exterior wall by the drive, wherever's practical. For properties where the consumer unit is at the other end of the house, we run heavy-duty armoured cable with full weatherproofing.

We're an Octopus Energy Trusted Partner and fit their smart charger range, plus SolaX and AlphaESS units that integrate directly with solar and battery systems. The smart chargers automatically wait for the cheapest overnight window before charging.

Solar installation
We were looking for an off grid solar installation for our allotment. Renegade gave us a very good quote for the job and so we chose them. This turned out to be a great decision. Ashley did a site inspection and we tweaked the initial design to better suit our location. The installation went ahead on the planned date and the work was completed to a very high standard. We had some additional work carried out at the same time, some due to Ashleys recommendation (e.g. swapping our lighting for LED). I highly recommend Renegade as a trustworthy and competent company.

In a word...outstanding! Renegade Electricals installed a 10 panel PV system with battery/inverter for us and we're extremely happy with it. Ashley was easy to deal with, reassuring and very professional providing full documentation and keeping us informed throughout the process. His customer service was exceptional and technical knowledge formidable. The panels, even in winter in the grim/grey north west, are producing impressive stats and its great entertainment watching the Alpha-ESS app showing the panels filling the battery up during the day, then discharging in the evening.
